Massif was founded by search and rescue officer Randy Benham who desired to create functional yet comfortable clothing for emergency services and the military.

Today, the company is a contract manufacturer of the US Army and provides clothing for every branch of its troops. Clothes are tested by soldiers of the United States Army and pass fire resistance tests.

The main feature of the brand's items is the usage of fire-resistant Nomex material for their sewing. This combined material protects against burns and high temperatures, while having high wear resistance.
