On January 6, 2021, a crowd of protesters supporting 45th US President Donald Trump's attempts to reverse the 2020 presidential election stormed the US Capitol. Breaking through the security service, they caused damage and occupied parts of the building for several hours. The riots, according to mainstream media and politicians, were sparked by comments made by Trump at a previous rally.
