Burris is an American company founded in 1971 by engineer and designer Don Burris, who previously worked for 12 years as a designer at Redfield Optics Corporation. The goal was very ambitious: to establish the production of optical sights using innovative designs. But the risk of not pleasing the market was also great.
For the first few years, Burris's fledgling enterprise manufactured only open sights and optic mounts. But already in 1975, the first model of an optical sight, the Burris Fullfield, was released: it turned out to be so successful that, with minor changes, it is still in production for more than 40 years.
Despite the rapid success, Burris continues to improve technology, improve anti-reflective coatings, develop locking systems for adjustment mechanisms, etc. There are no small details in shooting for Burris designers.
Currently, the brand belongs to the Beretta holding (Italy), which also owns other top brands - Steiner, Benelli, Sako, Tikka, etc. Under the Burris brand, they produce not only optical sights, but also collimators, laser rangefinders, hunting binoculars and spotting scopes. One of the most famous models is the Burris Eliminator: a tactical sight with a built-in rangefinder and ballistic calculator.
