During the multinational tactical exercises Saber Gurdian 2021, which take place at a training ground near the city of Varpalota in Hungary, the troops of the airborne assault unit of the Airborne Assault Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine showed a high level of training and received high marks from NATO partners. This was reported by the press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
During the practical phase of the international exercises, in order to repel an attack of a mock enemy, the servicemen occupied a given area, equipped positions and engineering structures. Using the peculiarities of the local landscape and the maneuverability of the units, the paratroopers not only skillfully repulsed the attack, suffering minimal losses, but also demonstrated creative thinking regarding the actions of the unit.

During the Saber Gurdian 2021 exercise, when the Ukrainian and American units were practicing their combat skills, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Hungary, the Representative of Ukraine to the Danube Commission, Mrs. Lyubov Nepop, along with Charge d'Affaires of the United States in Hungary, Mark Dilard, were present.

Before this, the units, when interacting, agreed on frequencies, call signs, identification signals and landmarks. On the terrain model, the actions of units, forces and means, issues of comprehensive support were considered. The peculiarity of using the terrain model according to NATO standards is that the unit commanders physically move with the model, in accordance with the tasks of their subunit. Thus, considering various options for the development of events.

Also, at the stage of preparation for the practical phase of the Saber Gurdian 2021 exercise, the Ukrainian military, together with NATO instructors, installed DISE laser combat simulation systems, which, in online mode and in video playback mode, can show the terrain, vehicles, and all the actions of soldiers on the screen. This allowed us to improve skills and work on bugs.
