Specialists of the specialized division of the US Navy Underwater Construction Team One (UCT-1) have begun work on underwater inspection and hydrographic measurements in the area of one of the berths of the Yuzhny port, recently transferred to the needs of the Ukrainian Navy.

The event, held within the framework of the program of international military cooperation, is aimed at a preliminary assessment of possible locations for repair and construction work at the berth and the detection of underwater objects that may pose a danger to navigation.

As Acting Head of the Search and Rescue Service of the Ukrainian Navy Command, Captain 2nd Rank Leonid Burlaka, told ArmyInform, American specialists are working on underwater survey of hydraulic structures together with Ukrainian divers.
In addition to the actual results, the joint implementation of tasks will allow the servicemen of both countries to also exchange practical experience, get acquainted with the technical equipment for underwater work, and the peculiarities of organizing diving operations.
At the same time, the American team is conducting a technical survey of structures using side-looking radars and a hydrographic survey of a section of the water area.

The result of this work will be a detailed report with conclusions what needs to be done for the reconstruction and strengthening of berth No. 29, planning for further repair and restoration work.
