ECWCS GEN III Level 5 Soft Shell is a jacket that, thanks to the waterproof and windproof properties of its material, will protect the wearer from the harshest weather conditions.
The model has a folding hood which can be hidden behind the collar and is quickly accessible when necessary.
To prevent the getting water and dust under the jacket, the central zipper is covered with a strip that closes with Velcro. The zipper itself has two sliders from below and above. Thanks to this, the jacket can be unzipped from the bottom up, gaining access to pockets on the lower layers of clothing or chest rigs.
The system of ventilation consists of a mesh lining that provides air circulation and an elastic regulator along the lower edge of the jacket.
By tightening and loosening it, you can control the temperature distribution under the clothes. There are pockets under the armpits to release excess warm, and the chest pockets may be unbuttoned for the same purpose.
The jacket features velcros on the chest and shoulders for insignia or morale patches.
Combined with the ECWCS GEN III Level 5 Soft Shell pants and a thermal layer, this jacket will be an excellent outer layer not only for cold weather: thanks to the breathable properties of the material, it can be used in all seasons.
