Universal Improved Rainsuit (IRS) Rain Jacket (Grade 1)

The ORC Industries rain jacket is a functional jacket from a U.S. Army contract manufacturer, designed to be worn over a uniform and other layers of the ECWCS system. The model combines protection from precipitation with the material's ability to allow moisture vapor to escape, making it a practical outer layer in rainy weather.

Rain Protection

The jacket is made of a material that provides protection from rain while allowing moisture in the form of vapor to escape. To maintain the waterproof integrity of the construction, all seams are sealed with sealing tape.

This allows the rain jacket to be used as an outer protective layer over a uniform and other ECWCS elements.

Reliable Closure and Ventilation

The central part of the jacket is equipped with a reinforced two-way zipper, which is additionally covered by a double button placket. This construction helps protect the closure from external exposure to precipitation.

For additional ventilation, zippers are provided under the arms, allowing increased air circulation inside the jacket.

Hood and Sleeve Adjustment

The hood features a raised collar and visor, and its fit can be adjusted using nylon drawcords with adjusters. A drawcord is provided along the bottom of the jacket for volume adjustment.

The bottom of the sleeves is tightened with hook-and-loop fasteners, allowing the fit to be adjusted.

Access to Lower Layers

The construction includes openings for access to lower clothing layers. They fasten with buttons and allow access to the layers worn underneath the rain jacket without the need to fully open it.

Grade 1

This rain jacket is presented in Grade 1 condition. It retains the functional construction of the original model and is designed to be used as an outer protective layer of the ECWCS system.
