The ECWCS Generation II Level 6 Jacket is an outer protective shell of the Extended Cold Weather Clothing System, designed for use in cold, wet, and windy environments. It is an issued item of the U.S. Army and is widely employed by NATO military forces.
The jacket is constructed from a three-layer GORE-TEX® laminate, providing reliable waterproofing and wind protection while maintaining high breathability. It is not intended as an insulating garment, but rather as a weather barrier layer to be used in combination with ECWCS insulation layers (Levels 3–7), ensuring optimal body climate during physical activity.
All seams are fully sealed with original GORE-SEAM® tape, preventing moisture penetration. The integrated hood is stowed inside the collar, features adjustable drawcords, and includes a reinforced brim for rain and snow protection.
High-quality YKK® hardware is used throughout, including a two-way front zipper with a snap-secured storm flap, as well as underarm ventilation zippers for efficient heat regulation. Velcro-adjustable cuffs and a drawcord-adjustable hem ensure a secure and comfortable fit.
The jacket features a practical pocket layout for gear storage and quick access:
Lightweight construction and an ergonomic cut allow unrestricted movement and enable wearing body armor and load-bearing equipment over the jacket. It can be used as part of the ECWCS layering system or as a standalone rain and wind shell.
The NSN 8415-01-526-9184 (Large Regular) confirms the jacket’s official supply status within the U.S. and NATO military systems.
