SIG Sauer GmbH is a German small arms manufacturer, part of the Lüke & Ortmeier Gruppe holding based in Switzerland. It has branches: in the USA - SIG Sauer Inc. and in Switzerland, Swiss Arms AG, formerly known as Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft (SIG). Initially, SIG Sauer was a brand of pistols developed by SIG and produced in Germany by Sauer, and subsequently at a factory in the USA. Since 2000, SIG Sauer has been not only a brand, but also a company with the same name.
Today, SIG Sauer is the largest company in the Luc-Ortmeier holding and one of the largest manufacturers of firearms in the world.
SIG Sauer also founded and maintains the SIG Sauer Academy in Epping, New Hampshire.
