The Modular Sleep System (MSS) is one of the most popular sleeping systems used by the US Army. It consists of three separate components: an all-weather cover, a summer sleeping bag, and a winter sleeping bag.
Allows you to sleep at temperatures from +35 to -40 degrees Celsius in open areas without using tents, awnings, or other shelters with different combinations of layers. When using the system in extremely cold conditions, it is recommended to use the ECWCS all-weather clothing system in parallel.
This is facilitated by a specially developed push-button system for joining layers, allowing you to combine parts of the system depending on the temperature and the required comfort of sleep and the use of a membrane outer layer.
This system uses Polarguard HV (High Void) insulation - a long-fiber insulation made of polyester.
Excellent weight to thermal protection ratio.
The fiber has one internal triangular channel in the cross-section, due to which the fiber is restored to its original volume after compression, the weight is reduced by 20%, and the strength is increased.
Due to its long-fiber structure, the insulation does not roll up or “fall apart” into its component parts.
Maintains its volume after repeated washings.
Components of the sleeping system:
1. Summer sleeping bag - Patrol Bag
When used separately, it provides a comfortable sleep at temperatures from +10 to +20 degrees Celsius.
It has an adjustable hood.
Fabric - ripstop Insulation: Polargard HV

2. Winter sleeping bag - Intermediate Cold Weather
When used separately, it provides a comfortable sleep at temperatures from +15 to 0 degrees Celsius.
Fabric - waterproof, ripstop Insulation: - Polargard HV.
In the foot area - a double layer of insulation.

3. All-weather Bivy Cover – Gore-Tex Woodland. Designed to protect inner sleeping bags from bad weather, precipitation and dirt. It can be completely zipped from the inside. Water- and wind-resistant. Has a camouflage color.
Material: three-layer membrane fabric Gore-Tex.
