This is a dual frequency version of the 3M Peltor ComTac VI NIB hearing defender, operating at 915.5 MHz and 864 MHz.
3M Peltor Comtac VI NIB Hearing Defender Features
1. Equipped with new omnidirectional microphones and high-fidelity, high-sensitivity drivers to help you hear more clearly and accurately. New digital signal processing circuitry and transmitting microphone are designed to help improve speech intelligibility and the ability of the listening environment to detect and localize sound from previous generations of the platform.
2. Externally, the Comtac VI is similar to previous models, but the wireless NIB (Natural Interaction Behavior) system automatically connects to users 5–10m away, allowing communication even at high noise levels, reducing it to an acceptable level and preserving the perception of the environment, which greatly speeds up contact by bypassing the common station.
3. Continuous operation mode allows the external communication function to remain active even in the event of battery drain or power failure.
4. The ComTac VI is equipped with the innovative 3M PELTOR MAP (Mission Audio Profiles) feature. Advanced ambient listening settings allow you to adapt and optimize the volume level depending on the mission and conditions. The following modes are available:
- "Comfort" — low volume and narrow frequency response for use during noise for long periods of time (tactical vehicle, air transport) where listening to the environment does not prioritize communication and overall comfort;
- "Conversation" — maximizes frequencies important for face-to-face communication while reducing frequencies outside the mid-speech band;
- "Patrol" — high volume with reduced high frequencies to limit sounds such as footsteps on gravel, movement of grass underfoot, and movement of equipment on the body;
- "Observation" — highest volume and wide frequency response to maximize hearing when the user is stationary: during overwatch, hide spot, stop to listen, etc.
5. The main control of the modes is on the left cup. Built-in microphones recognize quiet environments and the sound is automatically amplified and can be heard without removing the headphones.
6. The model has been tested in an impulse test in accordance with the requirements of ANSI S12.42.
7. Dynamic waterproof microphone. Water resistance has been tested to IP68 (immersion at 6 meters for 30 minutes).
8. Waterproof battery compartments that do not require tools to change batteries.
9. Gel ear cushions suitable for extended wear and use with eye protection.
