It is impossible to predict where an enemy bullet or shrapnel will come from, so it pays to take care of your safety in advance. The M-Tac brand has developed and produced the GROIN PROTECTION 1 CLASS BALLISTIC PAH PROTECTION, which significantly increases the area of anti-shrapnel protection of the fighter's body.
The module consists of a center panel and two side panels connected. Due to the fact that the side elements of the module are movable, it will not cause discomfort during active physical activity (running, squatting, walking, etc.). On the lateral parts of the module, there is a MOLLE system made by Laser Cut technology. If necessary, it can be used to attach additional, suitable in-size, equipment.
The groin protector is attached to the tactical belt by means of fasteners located on the side parts. The main part of the attachment is made of Cordura 500D with Laser Cut technology, in the form of a segment of the MOLLE system. For durability, Tegris thermoplastic composite has been added between two layers of Cordura.
The extended part of the side mounts is alternately “woven” between the MOLLE system of the tactical belt and the side groin protection mounts. The advantage of this attachment is that it is extremely secure and does not interfere with the further integration of the equipment on the tactical belt.
On the lower part of the groin guard, there is a sling, the end of which is equipped with a Grip Toggle frame manufactured by the Korean company WOOJIN. This sling plays the role of fixing the lower part of the ballistic protection to the tactical belt. This fixation leaves the MOLLE system on the tactical belt open, thus not preventing its further use.
The quick-release system of the groin guard is realized thanks to the fasteners made by Italian company DUE EMME (2M), which are located on each part of the module (one on the sides and one on the bottom).
The groin protector is made of Cordura 500D – a heavy-duty material resistant to abrasion and high loads. Also, this piece of equipment comes with a ballistic package designed to protect against ricochets and shrapnel. It is made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) and is STANAG 2920 compliant with a V-50 anti-shrapnel resistance rating of approximately 614.5 m/s.
To understand the analogy of anti-fragmentation resistance, an armor package with a similar composition corresponds to Class 1 (9 x 18 APS, 9 x 19 Luger) according to DSTU 8782: 2018. (Class 1 refers to the equivalent composition tested on 400 x 400 mm standard samples. Therefore, post-impact injury may be different in smaller size and shape specimens).
To increase the area of anti-shrapnel protection, the manufacturer advises combining the ballistic groin protection with M-TAC BALLISTIC PACKAGE 1 CLASS PROTECTION. Due to the design, these types of protection will not conflict with each other, providing comfortable use and reliable protection against bullets and shrapnel.
