ECWCS GEN III Level 5 Soft Shell is a functional soft shell jacket designed to provide reliable protection against wind, precipitation, and changing weather conditions during active use. It combines a durable, elastic, and breathable fabric that ensures comfort even under high physical exertion.
The jacket features a stowable hood that neatly folds into the collar and can be quickly deployed when needed. The central two-way zipper is covered by a hook-and-loop storm flap, preventing water, dust, and cold air from penetrating inside. Dual zipper sliders allow the jacket to be opened from the bottom, providing easy access to lower-layer pockets or load-bearing equipment.
An efficient ventilation system helps maintain a comfortable microclimate: a mesh inner lining improves airflow, while an adjustable elastic drawcord at the hem allows precise control of heat retention. Additional heat release is achieved through underarm ventilation areas and the option to partially open the chest pockets.
Velcro panels on the chest and shoulders are provided for attaching identification patches, insignia, or morale patches. Adjustable cuffs help seal the sleeves against water ingress and cold wind.
