The “Work&Travel Sumy” patch from the Ukrainian brand PSDinfo® is made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It is attached to a Velcro panel. It has stitching around the edges for added durability.
It comes with three themed cards with descriptions on the back of events that have forever gone down in history:
1. On February 24, 2022, Sumyshchyna was one of the first to take a blow from the Russian army, which planned to capture Kyiv in three days. The invaders shelled border settlements from “Grads”, and then went tanks and APCs along the entire length of the border – which is 560 kilometers. However, literally within half a day – the region, which was supposed to be a transit area on the way to Kyiv, became a bone across the throat for the occupiers;
2. Partisans of the new time, i.e. residents with Molotov Cocktails, rifles, and Kalashnikov rifles burned and shot tank columns that entered their streets, vegetable gardens, and not yet sown fields. Great merit in the liberation of the Sumy region belongs to the 93rd brigade “Cold Yar”, which began to work in the Lebedyn community and villages of Trostyanets community, then in Trostyanets itself, then in Boroml, Krasnopolye and so the southern part of Sumy region was liberated. Participated in the liberation of the Sumy region were the armed forces of Ukraine (ZSU) thero-defense, and special services, which for several days cleaned up the territory – found, shot, and drove away the Russian military;
3. After the Russians retreated from Sumshchyna in April 2022, the oblast remained a frontline region. Because of its neighborhood with three Russian regions (Bryansk, Kursk, and Belgorod). The routine for its border areas became a “war of amphibious reconnaissance groups (DRGs)”, mined roads, mortar shelling, and “arrivals” of guided aerial munitions (KABs).
