ProfArmor Groin Ballistic Protection – DSTU Protection Class 2
In real combat conditions, even the best body armor cannot cover all threat directions. That is why the ProfArmor groin ballistic protection is a critically important piece of equipment. It complements the front armor plate and enhances the protection of one of the most vulnerable areas — the groin and lower abdomen.
The module protects fragments, secondary ricochets, and typical handgun threats in the groin and lower abdominal areas. It meets DSTU Class 2 protection or its equivalent, which is classified as a fragmentation-resistant level of ballistic protection.
Why is this module essential for a soldier
-
The femoral artery runs through the groin area; damage to it results in rapid and critical blood loss.
-
When firing from a seated position or from a trench, the front plate often shifts upward, exposing the lower protection sector.
-
The groin is a common impact zone for fragments, secondary ricochets, and low-velocity shrapnel coming from below.
The groin ballistic module completes the armor protection system, eliminating these vulnerabilities and increasing the soldier’s overall survivability.
Materials and construction
-
Soft ballistic package made of UHMWPE or aramid fiber.
-
Sealed moisture-resistant cover protecting the ballistic insert from water and dirt.
-
Outer cover made of original Cordura® 500D with reinforced fibers, polyurethane coating, and water-repellent treatment.
Functionality and attachment
-
Securely attaches to the lower edge of the body armor using a Velcro panel or webbing straps.
-
Quick-release capability when needed.
-
An additional lower strap allows the module to be folded and secured to the chest when protection is temporarily not required.
Life-saving advantages:
-
reduces the risk of fatal injuries;
-
enhances psychological confidence in combat;
-
completes the full protective capability of the body armor.
