Sunwayfoto is a young Chinese company that has built a reputation for high quality tripod heads and accessories in recent years.
SunwayFoto XB-44 is made of aluminum alloy, the surface is anodized. The low profile offers two main advantages: compactness and, most importantly, a low center of gravity, which provides greater stability and resistance to vibrations. SunwayFoto declares a 15% lower center of gravity compared to traditional ball heads. SunwayFoto uses elliptical balls in its tripod heads. It is believed that this shape allows for progressive ball resistance when the apparatus is tilted (the resistance of a regular ball is the same at any angle of inclination, for an aspherical ball it grows as the ball deviates from the vertical position) and makes it easier to adjust the pretension of the ball. The XB-44 controls are represented by three knobs: a pan and ball locking knob combined with a pre-tension adjuster on the head body and a jaw clamping knob on the mounting pad. SunwayFoto handles are completely metal, high quality finish and comfortable shape with notches give no reason to complain about the lack of the usual rubberized non-slip coating. All handles are equipped with a stopper - it is impossible to completely unscrew them.
In addition to the head itself, the operating manual and the warranty, the kit contains three hexagons, a cloth for cleaning and an adapter 3 / 8-16 - 1 / 4-20.
