The Cold Steel Crawford 1 is a lightweight and functional folding knife created in collaboration with legendary knife designer Wes Crawford. Combining ergonomics, safety, and affordability, this model is ideal for everyday carry (EDC), tourism, work, or as a first knife for beginners.
The blade is made of Japanese 4034SS stainless steel, which provides good corrosion resistance, easy maintenance, and sufficient hardness for everyday tasks. Its shape—a classic Clip Point with bevels from the middle of the blade, an accentuated tip, and a false edge on the ricasso—provides effective cutting and piercing. The edge is straight, traditionally honed to the high sharpness characteristic of Cold Steel. The absence of pins or holes simplifies the design and reduces the likelihood of snagging on clothing or equipment.
There are two flippers on the ricasso (the blunt part) of the blade:
The first, slightly larger, is responsible for easy and smooth blade deployment;
The second is designed for easy and smooth opening of the knife when removing it from the pocket.
When open, the two flippers form a stop similar to a guard, which significantly increases safety during use.
To lock the blade in the open position, a Liner Lock is used with an additional system that prevents accidental folding during heavy loads. It securely fixes the plate, preventing the heel of the blade from breaking off.
The contour of the block embodies the creators' reverent attitude towards the ergonomics and comfort of holding this knife. The back of the handle is curved, which, in combination with the pronounced finger grooves, makes it anatomically correct.
The scales are made of patented Zy-Ex material with special rubber inserts, which, in addition to the design features, almost completely prevent the handle from slipping in the palm.
An additional feature of the model is a steel clip that securely holds the knife on a belt or pocket, but, according to the designer's intention, can only be installed in one position.
The Crawford 1 knife is positioned as an EDC (everyday carry) item, thanks to its compact size, light weight, and comfortable and versatile blade and handle contours.
