The APECS (All Purpose Environmental Clothing System) is a US Army all-weather protective parka designed as an improvement on Layer 6 of the ECWCS Gen II. Designed to be worn over insulated layers, it provides reliable protection from rain, snow, and strong wind.
Construction and Materials:
The parka is constructed with a three-layer GORE-TEX® laminate, which combines waterproofness, windproofness, and breathability. This membrane wicks moisture away from the body, helping to maintain an optimal microclimate even during intense activity.
All seams are sealed with Gore-Seam tape, eliminating leaks.
The elbows and back of the forearms are double-reinforced for added durability.
All zippers are YKK with a water-resistant coating; the front closure is covered with a wind flap.
The hood is integrated into the collar and can be quickly removed and stowed. Adjustable to the face with elastic drawstrings and buckles. Features a small visor to protect from rain and sunlight.
Ventilation zippers under the arms ensure effective air circulation during physical activity. When closed, they retain heat and protect from moisture.
Pockets:
Two slit chest pockets with water-resistant zippers, the interior of which is lined with sweat-wicking material that can be used as additional ventilation.
Two shoulder pockets with Velcro flaps, one of which has a pen compartment.
Two spacious hip pockets with Velcro flaps and drawstrings for waist adjustment.
Cuffs are adjustable with Velcro, allowing them to accommodate gloves or different clothing thicknesses.
Drawstrings at the hem and waist provide a tighter fit and improved wind protection.
The chest has a Velcro panel for insignia or patches.
