The Integrated Head Protection System (IHPS) has recently been added to the equipment of US Army soldiers. It represents the next step in the evolution of helmets and a significant achievement in the field of combat headgear. The system is designed for optimal protection, functionality, and comfort.
The IHPS helmet is an important piece of equipment that provides soldiers with 100 percent increased protection against head injuries on the battlefield. This means increased ballistic protection against bullets (rifles), as well as double protection for the head against blunt force trauma or traumatic injuries.
The helmet has a screwless mounting system that eliminates the four holes located on each side for a conventional suspension system. It has one front hole for attaching a night vision device. Avoiding drilling holes in the helmet is important for maintaining its structural integrity.
Removable rails can be placed on the sides of the helmet, allowing soldiers to attach lights and other accessories when working in low-light conditions.
The IHPS design provides more space inside, on both sides of the head, allowing soldiers to wear communication headsets comfortably.
Features:
This helmet is significantly lighter than modern ACH models and has a multi-layer construction that effectively absorbs impact, providing maximum ballistic protection.
It is equipped with an adjustable mounting system that provides a secure and custom fit for different head sizes.
The integrated design ensures seamless compatibility with communication devices and other tactical accessories, improving situational awareness on the battlefield.
The IHPS also includes modular system capabilities, allowing soldiers to enhance protection with additional protective shields and components as needed.
Inside the helmet, there is an X-shaped suspension system and protective pads.
An OCP-colored cover is included to protect the helmet from external influences, with Velcro fasteners and Identification Friend-or-Foe (IFF) markers, which are used to identify friendly forces during night operations using night vision devices (NVDs).
Shell material: high-strength ballistic composite system based on polyethylene and/or aramid with improved impact resistance.
Protection standards:
Complies with NIJ IIIA requirements (against pistol bullets)
Provides a higher level of protection against fragments and blunt impact compared to ACH/ECH
Tested for protection against M80 (7.62×51 mm) bullets with low traumatic load
Weight of the set: 1530 g
