The GEN III ECWCS Level 4 jacket is a lightweight, durable, and low-profile wind jacket designed as part of the U.S. Army’s Extended Cold Weather Clothing System. It provides effective protection against wind, dust, sand, dirt, and light precipitation during active use.

The fourth layer of ECWCS Gen III is intended to be worn with the ACU (Army Combat Uniform) and can be used under body armor. It is optimized for moderate climates and cool, windy conditions, offering a balance between weather protection and breathability.

The jacket is made from a camouflage-patterned, abrasion-resistant fabric manufactured by Milliken, treated with an encapsulated silicone polymer using Epic technology. This construction delivers water-repellent performance while maintaining moisture vapor permeability.

Its design allows excess heat and moisture to escape through internal air circulation, while simultaneously shielding the wearer from wind, moisture, contamination, and environmental exposure.
