Folding pocket knives are very convenient in that they can be carried with you literally everywhere. The Firebird FH12-SS is one of those models. This is a versatile folding knife made entirely of steel. It is suitable for tourists, fishermen, people who need a sharp auxiliary tool in the city. This model is made of high quality materials, easy to use and very easy to maintain.
The knife blade is made of D2 high carbon steel. But due to the high percentage of chromium and nickel in the metal, this alloy is classified as semi-stainless. That is, the knife should be kept dry and wiped clean after use, but no special care is required. At the same time, D2 steel is hardened to 60HRC and keeps a good sharpening for a very long time, so the knife does not have to be sharpened often.
The blade size is 87 mm, which is sufficient for almost any common work. Its thickness is 3.3 mm, so that the knife can withstand quite heavy loads. Naturally, it is better not to use it as a scrap or a can opener. The sharpening of this model is straight, and the shape of the blade corresponds to the Driop-point type. The blade is made almost matt, as its finishing is a tumbling.
The handle of the Firebird FH12-SS knife is also made of metal, but this is a different steel grade - stainless. It is also polished by the tumbling method, equipped with a clamping clip, which is screwed on with a pair of bolts. There is also a place on the back of the handle to attach a clip in case the owner of the knife wants to change its position.
Part of one of the handle covers is at the same time a part of the lock built into the Firebird FH12-SS. Its design is called Frame-lock. In this mechanism, a steel plate rests against the heel of an open blade, preventing it from folding even under load. And for quick and convenient opening of the knife, the blade is equipped with a flipper on the butt side.
The total open length of the Firebird FH12-SS is 205 mm. It weighs 112 g.
