The headset is equipped with a microphone and high quality speakers optimized for voice communication and capturing sounds with high sensitivity. It has a good signal-to-noise ratio for accurate and precise sound reproduction. As a result, the headset delivers natural sound with high sound clarity.

The headband is made of modern rubberized material. It is easier to remove than a leather headband if the user wishes to upgrade to ARC adapters (or convert back to a headband). This headband is highly resistant to marine environments.

3M Peltor Comtac V Headset Functions

1. Balance Mode — adjusts the volume of ambient sound between the left and right speakers, allowing the operator to prioritize the sound or customize it to their personal preference.
2. Off Time Mode — specifies the time after which the tactical function is reactivated. The default setting is optimized for combat. Longer delays may be more appropriate for indoor firearms training.
3. Volume Up or Headphone Mode — increases the volume of ambient sound and external signal by approximately 6 dB. This mode should only be used when properly fitted earplugs are inserted under the headset.
4. EQ function — the CT5's EQ further adjusts a preset frequency optimized for combat.
5. Talk-Through feature for face-to-face verbal conversation.

3M Peltor Comtac V Dual Headset Features

2. Ear cushions with increased sound isolation. In this model, the ear cushions are made of special silicone, which is able to press the headphones more tightly to the head and smooth out all anatomical features of the skull structure.
3. Omnidirectional eco-friendly built-in microphones.
4. Complete with a removable microphone. The ComTac V has replaced the obsolete boom microphone (for external radio transmission) with the MT33. This boom greatly improves audio transmission in different noise conditions. The main improvement is noise reduction. This microphone offers 18 dB of noise reduction compared to the old microphone, which previously offered 6 dB of noise reduction (measured at 10 mm, normalized for 0 dB at 1 kHz).
