Uniden BCD996P2 scanner appeared to replace BCD996XT.
It is the top model in Uniden classic design, which was widely used in the 15 and 996 series.
Among the differences from the XT there are the following: support for the APCO25 Phase 2,
built-in USB interface and black plastic for the front panel. There are no other differences.
Frequency performance: 25-1300 MHz *
Operating frequency ranges: 25-512, 758-824, 849-869, 894-960 and 1240-1300 MHz
It supports digital standards APCO25 Phase 1 and APCO25 Phase 2
It is the latest trunk tracker of the 5th generation, which supports trunking systems
of the standard APCO25 Phase I, APCO25 Phase II, X2-TDMA, Motorola SmartNet/SmartZone/Astro25, EDACS and LTR
128x64 dots LCD display with variable backlight color
Number of channels: 25,000
Dynamic memory architecture - empty channels in one bank do not reduce
the amount of available memory for other banks. In addition, the number of channels in the banks can be arbitrary (in the lower models it is set strictly).
Ability to choose an arbitrary modulation: AM, NFM, FM, WFM or FMB
Possibility of arbitrary step selection: 5, 6.25, 7.5, 8.33, 10, 12.5, 15, 20, 25, 50, or 100 kHz
Display individual subscriber ID
Received signal strength indicator
Non-volatile memory - BCD996P2 can stay out of power for as long as it needs and will not lose any settings or user data
Scan speed up to 100 channels per second.
The ability to increase the scanning speed up to 300 channels per second at a frequency step of 5 kHz
It has the Close Call's proprietary technology. It means the capture a signal in the near zone in a split second and display its frequency
CTCSS/PL subton search engine and DCS/DPL codes
The function of the reverse frequency repeaters, facilitates the control and search for the input frequency
AGC system for digital and analog transmissions, tied to systems individually
BCD996-P2 allows you to scan with reference to your current location (automatic on/off systems in motion).
To connect GPS scanner, DB9 connector is provided on the rear panel (the receiver must ensure compatibility with the NMEA-0183 version 3.01 standard).
Programmable channel activity indication - 7 colors and 2 different scenarios
Individual volume correction by frequency or channel
The Quick Search mode is an analogue of the VFO mode in radio stations, providing free frequency tuning.
It has the function of temporary (up to 250 pcs.) and constant (up to 250 pcs.) frequency skip.
The scheme with triple frequency conversion, which virtually eliminates the likelihood of internal interference in the scanner
The possibility of shifting the IF conversion scheme to eliminate interference in case it occurs
12 predefined frequency search ranges with division by services (services).
10 arbitrary frequency search ranges solve the above problem with a mismatch of predefined ranges.
These 10 bands can be set by the user at his discretion, and do not depend on the frequency distributions in the USA.
Different types of priority scanning: priority + do not disturb, priority + scanning
Flexible settings of the time spent on the active channel and resuming scanning
(2 independent timers with the possibility of forced resuming scanning even when active on the frequency)
Sound tones that uniquely identify an action performed with a receiver - successfully or unsuccessfully
The ability to update the firmware to extend the functionality and eliminate possible problems
Software function of display flipping - for convenient display of information regardless of the scanner body orientation (speaker up / speaker down)
It has a telescopic antenna with BNC connector. It is suitable for initial acquaintance with the scanner,
after which it is recommended to acquire more efficient band aerials.
You have a possibility of installation in DIN seat standard in the car (DIN-E basket is not included in the scope of delivery,
but it is available as an optional accessory)
Built-in USB interface (mini-USB connector type)
PC channel programming
Remote control from PC
* - Attention! There are gaps in frequency; so called “holes”.
But it is rather a psychological problem,
that it is greatly inflated by non-specialists. The fact is that in the "holes" there are practically no narrow-band radio signals
(since civil radio stations are practically not released to these bands).
The practical damage from the "holes" is close to zero.
Features:
The built-in USB interface greatly simplifies programming and control from a PC,
as it saves the user from having to search for a PC with a COM port or purchase an expensive Uniden USB-1 branded adapter
The BCD-996-P2 supports the APCO25 digital phase 2 standards.
The scanner can be connected to the ignition of the car in order to automatically adjust the display brightness
- raising the brightness when the engine is turned off and down when the engine is running (just like the lighting of the car dashboard).
