The decompression needle ARS Needle Kit (Air Release System Needle Decompression Kit) or TPN (Tension Pneumothorax Needle) is specially designed to provide first aid for tension pneumothorax in the prehospital stage. ARS Needle kit comes in a special compact case, which, due to its design, is not only convenient to transport and store, but also ensures the sterility of the contents. Inside the case there is a needle and a catheter, the length of which is 8.25 cm, which complies with the recommendations of the international committee of SCCC for use on the battlefield. The length of the needle and the versatility of the design allow the ARS Needle Kit to be used in adult victims with different body types. After insertion of the needle with the catheter, the needle itself is removed, leaving the catheter in the pleural cavity. In turn, the catheter has an open entrance, allowing it to be immobilized in the chest, as well as to control the progress of the manipulation. The APC decompression needle is in service with the regular first-aid kits of the US Army.
Attention! The decompression needle can only be used by persons with
a medical education, or who have undergone specialized training! Improper
use of the ARS Needle Kit may result in injury and deterioration of the victim!
Instructions for use:
1) Before use, make sure the integrity of the protective seal on the end of the case.
If the seal is broken and the decompression needle was previously used, do not use this kit.
2) Turning the cap, open the case and remove the needle with the catheter from it.
3) Locate the insertion point of the ARS Needle. The decompression needle should be inserted into the damaged half of the chest, into the intercostal space between the 2nd and 3rd ribs, along the upper edge of the 3rd rib, projecting vertically from the nipple towards the collarbone. Disinfect the injection site.
4) Place the needle at an angle of 90 degrees with respect to the chest and begin
to smoothly insert the needle until it stops. Withdraw the needle leaving the catheter and secure the catheter.
