The M-Tac brand has developed a new concept for the fighter's personal protection system - the M-Tac Cuirass QRS 1A ballistic pack throat for the M-Tac Cuirass QRS plate carrier. The compact, detachable module provides all-round anti-fragmentation protection for the warfighter's neck and upper back.
The module consists of two elements with Velcro fasteners. The front section protects the neck from the front, while the shoulder section protects the shoulders, trapezius and back of the neck.
The neck section attaches to the sternum panel of the Cuirass QRS plate carrier on MOLLE while the rear protection attaches to the shoulder section of the plate carrier using Velcro slings that are secured with a buckle to attach around the shoulder straps of the body armour. There are two such flaps on each side.
The module is designed to provide continuous ballistic overlap from the top edge of the chest plate to the dorsal plate while capturing additional area on the sides of the shoulder straps.
Significant efforts of the designers were aimed at giving the neck the most ergonomic shape for comfortable use. This design does not conflict with other equipment elements and provides a sufficient degree of freedom of head movement, even with a helmet on. Special attention was also paid to the anatomical shape and low weight of the product. This allows you to maintain the mobility and ergonomics of your entire outfit.
If necessary, you can use only the shoulder section of the module, while the neck protector can be fixed and folded at the front of the neck brace. If necessary, the frontal element of the gorget can be removed for more convenient weapon insertion, but in this case, it will cease to fulfil the protective functions of the front part of the neck.
The module is made of Cordura 500D, a heavy-duty fabric resistant to abrasion and high loads. Inside the shoulder part, a dampening mesh is used to reduce the likelihood of pressure and provide good ventilation.
The gorget is complete with ballistic pouches that protect against ricochets and splinters. They are made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethene (UHMWPE) and are STANAG 2920 compliant with a V-50 anti-shrapnel rating of approximately 580m/s.
To understand the analogy with antifragmentation resistance: an armour package with similar composition corresponds to 1A class (9x18 APS) according to DSTU 4103-2002 and 1 class (9x18 APS, 9x19 Luger) according to the new DSTU 8782: 2018 (Under 1A, 1 class means the equivalent composition, which is tested on standard samples 400x400mm. Therefore, on smaller size and shape specimens, the obstructive injury may differ).
