ICOM Inc. was founded in 1964. The first name of the company was "INOUE EIectric Manufacturing Co., Ltd." This enterprise set up small-scale production of the first FDAM-1 amateur radio transceiver developed by Tokuzo Inoue, assembled entirely on transistors, which was a definite breakthrough in the technology of that time. Thanks to the new ideas and excellent performance of this model, more than 200 units of the first series were immediately sold. In the future, the enterprise produced more than 3000 upgraded transceivers for sale in the domestic market of Japan.

Since June 1978, the company has been named ICOM Incorporated. Icom's new technologies greatly contributed to the development of amateur radio equipment, which was later recognized as one of the best in the world. Maximum efficiency and product quality were ensured through the use of the latest technologies of the time. Automatic assembly lines performed all the operations that could not be performed by manual labor.
Today ICOM Inc. one of the world leaders in the production of communication equipment for various purposes in the land, sea and aviation bands.
