The manual "Emergency War Surgery" was prepared by specialists from the Research Center for American Military Medicine Borden Institute. The Ukrainian book was translated and published with the permission of the Borden Institute under the direction and management of the Lviv publishing house "Nautilus".
The manual describes in detail the diagnosis and treatment of injuries of various systems and anatomical areas of the human body, the rules for sorting and evacuating the wounded, etc. The leadership operates with the latest scientific medical data and is based on real combat experience gained by the US Army during the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Acquaintance with the experience of US military surgeons will be useful for Ukrainian military surgeons and organizers of the military medical support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The book is in two parts. The second part contains the following information:
- injuries of the abdomen and genitourinary system; gynecological injuries;
- damage to the spine and pelvic trauma;
- fractures of limbs, injuries of the hand and foot, amputations;
- vascular injury and burns;
- radiation and chemical damage;
- blood transfusion and urgent collection of whole blood;
- taking care of prisoners of war.
