The ECWCS Gen III Level 5 Set is a lightweight insulating layer of the Gen III Extreme Cold Weather Clothing System (ECWCS) to protect from adverse weather conditions and freezing temperatures. It consists of a jacket and pants which can be worn as a separate layer or on top of others. The main material is the silicon polymer-encapsulated Milliken Nylon with water-repellent impregnation. It has good elasticity and vapour permeability.
The jacket has a high collar, additionally fastening with velcro. There is a foldable hood, which can be rolled into a collar backside.
The two-way zipper is protected from leaks and wind blowing by outer and inner strips.
There are 5 velcro panels: 3 on the chest and one on each forearm. Under the chest, velcro panels are located two vertical pockets. Their mesh lining allows air to circulate inside the jacket and can be used as ventilation holes.
There are flap pockets on the forearms with expandable capacity. Ventilation holes with zippers are located under the arms.
The cuffs are equipped with elastic inserts and are fastened with Velcro.
The capacity of the lower edge of the jacket is adjusted with an elastic band with a shock cord.
The pants have a sewn-in elastic band at the waist and the belt loops up to 6.5 cm wide. There are loops for braces on the inside. The centre fastening at the top closes with Velcro. Two classic side pockets on the sides. The waist width is additionally adjusted with Velcro fasteners, under which there are zips for quick removal of the trousers without taking off the shoes.
In the crotch area, the trousers have a diamond-shaped insert, which facilitates unobstructed leg movement when travelling in difficult terrain.
On the hips, there are expandable cargo pockets, the capacity of which can be adjusted with a shock cord.
The knee area is reinforced with an additional layer of the main material.
In the side seams at the bottom of the trousers, as well as on the waistband, there are 38 cm long zips for quick dressing or shooting without taking off your shoes.
Trouser legs are elasticated and have two buttons to fix the width.
