XSTAT® 30 is a first-of-its-kind hemostatic device for stopping bleeding caused by gunshot and shrapnel wounds. XSTAT works by introducing rapidly expanding small sponges into the wound cavity using a syringe-like applicator.
XSTAT 30 Gen2 contains approximately 20% more mini sponges per applicator than the first version of XSTAT 30.

RevMedx XSTAT-30 Gen2 Applicator Features
- The XSTAT is a hemostatic device for stopping severe, life-threatening bleeding from connecting wounds in the groin or axilla, as well as bleeding from narrow entry wounds in the arms or legs that cannot be tourniqueted.
- It is used for adolescents and adults.
- The XSTAT is a temporary device for use for up to four (4) hours until surgical care can be provided.
- The device should only be used for patients at high risk of immediate life-threatening bleeding from hemodynamically significant (Advanced Trauma Life Support Class 3 or 4 hemorrhagic shock) non-contractile wounds and when definitive care in an acute care facility cannot be provided within minutes.
- Creates hemostatic pressure in the wound cavity to stop bleeding.
- Applies in seconds and immediately stops bleeding without manual compression.
- XSTAT sponges instantly expand, create 360° hemostatic pressure and stop bleeding at its source.
- No need to spend minutes on manual compression required when using hemostatic gauze.
- The syringe applicator is easy to learn and use. Needs minimal training and reduces the need for dressing application.
- Vacuumed and sterile.
- There are approximately 108 radiopaque sponges per applicator.
- XSTAT is NOT for use in: the thorax; the pleural cavity; the mediastinum; the abdomen; the retroperitoneal space; the sacral space above the inguinal ligament; or tissues above the clavicle.
Instructions for use
- Open the vacuum pack and take out the applicator.
- Insert the applicator into the wound as close to the source of bleeding as possible.
- Insert the plunger into the applicator and push through to squeeze the sponges into the wound.
- If necessary, use an additional applicator to completely fill the wound with sponges. Warning! Do not attempt to remove the sponges from the wound yourself — this must be performed by a surgeon.
- Cover the wound with an occlusive or pressure dressing. Use an elastic bandage if available.
- If the bleeding does not stop, press with your hands until it stops.
- Remove the wounded person's card from the pack. Assess the patient's peripheral circulation and write down the presence of a distal pulse to the card. Warning! Wound compression for more than 4 hours is not recommended due to the possibility of limb ischemia.
- Document the examinations performed, treatment given and changes in the status of the casualty in the wounded person's card. Transfer the card with the casualty to the next level of care.
