ProfArmor's Shamrock modular ballistic handguard is designed to protect the groin area from bullets and debris. It is reliable, lightweight, and unrestrictive, and allows for comfortable crawling, firing from the knee, running, and crouching.
Under NIJ IIIa protection class 0.01.06, the U.S. can withstand a .357 caliber SIG FMJ FN bullet (8.1 grams bullet weight) with a flight velocity of 448+-9.1 m/s and a .44 Magnum SJHP bullet (15.6 grams bullet weight) with a flight velocity of 436+-9.1 m/s. NIJ IIIA protection class refers to the equivalent of the test compound on 500*500 mm standard specimens. Therefore, on smaller size specimens the amount of blast injury may vary.
