The NAR Polycarbonate Eye Shield is a standard ophthalmic shield that meets current prehospital military guidelines for traumatic eye injury treatment in the field. Unlike soft pads, NAR Eye Shield provides not only reliable protection but also ventilation. These shields are better carried by casualties.
This model is made of polycarbonate and has a convex rigid shape, which helps protect the injured eye and prevents further damage. Polycarbonate has a translucent orange colour, is resistant to splinters and does not change its shape when pressure is applied to it. The holes in the cover provide ventilation, so placing anything underneath is not recommended.
There should be no foreign objects under the cover. The NAR Polycarbonate Eye Shield is applied directly to the affected eye without bandages or drapes underneath. This way you will avoid additional pressure on damaged tissue.
The pad is fixed on the outside of the damaged eye with a plaster or bandage.
TCCC Committee protocols for the treatment of penetrating ocular trauma compliant. One size fits all.
