History of the patch from the PSDinfo community: “Avdiivka is a city located six kilometres far from the city of Donetsk. Pro-Russian militants had been in control of it since late April 2014, it was deliberated by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Until 21 January 2015, the militants' attention was focused on Donetsk airport, after the destruction of which the suburbs of Avdiivka — the ‘dacha sector’, the ventilation shaft of the Butovka-Donetska mine and the industrial zone on the southern outskirts of the city began to be attacked. Battles for the industrial zone peaked in the spring of 2016, after which the Ukrainian army gradually pushed the terrorists south to the motorway. At the end of January 2017, Ukrainian forces approached the motorway and the Yasynuvata road hub, taking it under fire control.
Battles for Avdiivka erupted with renewed vigour on 21 February 2022. Since the first day of the full-scale Russian invasion, Avdiivka has become one of the first towns to be subjected to constant offensives by the Russian army. Despite all the difficulties, Ukrainian fighters continue to actively inflict losses in manpower and technique on the occupation forces, exhausting the enemy along the entire front line. During a month of assaults, the Russian Federation has already lost more than 10,000 occupants, hundreds of armoured vehicles and artillery systems".
