The Protective Combat Uniform (PCU) is the clothing used by the US Special Operations Forces (SOF).
Trousers of the 5th layer, the function of which is to protect the soldier from rain, wind and excessive overheating during high physical activity. In combination with the first or second layer, they can be used for any activity.
The main material is a softshell, the waterproof of which is achieved due to silicone encapsulation. The fabric fibres impregnated with silicone impregnations do not let moderate rainfall and wind through. The material stretches well, does not interfere with movements and is easily ventilated.
The waist of the pants is adjustable with Velcro fasteners. There are two buttons on the central zipper. Thanks to the loops on the inside, suspenders can be fastened around the waist. Suspenders are not included. For carrying equipment, there are 2 slash pockets at the waist and 2 overhead pockets in the hip area.
As in the jacket from the 5th layer set, the pants have protection against cold air and dirt, implemented in the form of elastic bands and button fasteners on the legs.
Zip fasteners at the top and bottom of the pants make them easy to put on and take off while still wearing the shoes. This is additional ventilation, as well as access to the pockets on the trousers of the lower layers.
The vulnerable area of the knees is reinforced with additional fabric inserts.
All sliders have pullers, so the zippers are easy to unzip even when wearing gloves.
