The SAM Pelvic Sling II does not allow for over- or under-tightening, unlike other bandages that allow unlimited force to be applied to the patient.
Because of the heavy bleeding that occurs, stabilization of pelvic fractures is critical in the first hour after a major injury.
The SAM Pelvic Sling is a force-adjustable circumferential pelvic sling that has been tested and recommended for the safe and effective reduction and stabilization of open pelvic ring fractures.
The patented Autostop SAM Pelvic Sling II buckle is programmed to stop pulling once the desired compression force is reached. This is vital in high stress environments where over-tightening by medical personnel can harm the casualty. The low friction rear slider makes it easy to tighten the strap.
The front of the sling is narrow and tapered to facilitate bladder catheterization, interventional radiology, external fixation and abdominal surgery.
The SAM Pelvic Sling II is an improved and simpler design compared to the previous version, with no removable parts. It is more compact and easy to use. Applying takes less than one minute: you just need to insert the belt into the buckle, pull the belt and fasten. The "click" provides clear feedback to confirm the correct application. The lanyard is secured in place with a Velcro strap.
The belt is not affected by extreme humidity, temperature, hard or sharp objects. It is also radiolucent and MRI safe.
SAM Pelvic can be reused after cleaning with common detergents or antimicrobial solutions.
Supplied in a transparent zippered case with the instruction manual in English inside.
The standard size is adjustable for hip circumference from 32 to 50 inches and fits 98% of the adult population.
