The Modular Sleep System (MSS) was designed for comfortable sleep for US Army personnel away from the main bases.
When using the system in extremely cold conditions,
it is recommended to use the ECWCS all-weather clothing system in parallel.
This is facilitated by a specially designed push-button system of docking layers,
which allows to combine parts of the system depending on temperature and the required comfort of sleep and the use of a membrane outer layer.
This system uses insulation Polarguard HV (High Void) - a long fiber insulation of polyester.
It has excellent weight-to-heat ratio.
The fiber has one internal triangular cross-section channel,
due to which the fiber is restored to its original volume after compression, the weight is reduced by 20%, and the strength is enhanced.
Because of its long-fiber structure, the insulation does not roll, it does not “crumble” into its component parts.
It keeps volume after repeated washes.
