ECWCS Gen III Level 2 is moisture repellent and warming at the same time. This thermal underwear is designed for static conditions, when the body does not produce an excessive warmness, as during active movement. It can be worn over the first layer or on its own, if no high physical activity is planned — stakeouts, combat duties, fishing, etc.
The set is made of Polartec Power Dry, a thin elastic material that has a two-layer structure that not only absorbs and removes moisture, but also retains warmness. The villi on the inside absorb warmness and retain it, while the channels along the villi (they form the “squares”) provide moisture removal and air circulation.
Unlike cotton, Polartec Power Dry dries twice as fast.
The Odor Resistant technology used in this material provides antibacterial protection and prevents the appearance of unpleasant odours.
The shirt has a high collar and a long zipper. Thus, you can adjust the temperature under it yourself — by fully closing the zipper for maximum warm preservation or opening it at your own discretion, getting rid of its excess.
The stitched and turned-up cuffs have a thumb hole to secure the sleeve before putting on top layers.
The back of the shirt is elongated at the back, so it can be tucked into the pants from this set. Thanks to their elastic waist, the shirt will stay firmly under them and will not come out during movements and bends.
The pants have the same cut and features of the material as the shirt. The fly, located just below the waist, allows you to do physical needs without removing thermal underwear. An important detail: it is located at the same level as in ECWCS Gen III Level 1, which allows you to combine these sets without problems.
A great advantage of the pants design is the insert in the crotch area: it relieves the user of discomfort and unwanted pressure, because the seams do not converge at one point. It also has a positive effect on physical activity, because this design does not hinder the movement of the legs when walking.
Turned-up and stitched holsters have a shorter length than the pants from the first layer. Thus, they will not overlap each other under the shoes.
