The M-Tac brand has developed a hip protector with a class 2 ballistic package, which significantly increases the area of protection of the fighter's body. The product is a compact, removable module that provides anti-shrapnel protection for the thighs (femurs and arteries).
The product is suitable for use with War Belt Armor, War Belt Armor Tegris D-ring Cobra and an inner belt (trouser belt). It is attached to them using slings (Mil-Spec technology) with Velcro fasteners. The slings are additionally equipped with fasteners (made by WooJin), which, if necessary, allow for quick removal of the hip protector. On the front part of the module, there is a MOLLE system (made of slings with Mil-Spec technology) on which you can attach additional equipment. On the side parts of the product, there are slings with fasteners, with the help of which the volume of the module can be easily adjusted to your parameters. On the side slings, on the inner side, there are rubber bands, thanks to which the module will fit the leg as tightly as possible and will not cause discomfort during use.
The hip protector is made of Cordura 500D — a durable material resistant to mechanical damage and high loads. The inner part of the module is made of 3D mesh, which provides cushioning, good thermoregulation and comfort during use. Also, the hip pads are completed with 2nd class ballistic pouches, which protect against ricochets and shrapnel. The armour pouches are made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethene and are STANAG 2920 compliant with a V-50 anti-shrapnel resistance rating of approximately 758.6 m/s.
To understand the analogy of anti-fragmentation resistance, an armoured package with a similar composition corresponds to class 2 (7,62*25 Pst) according to DSTU 8782:2018. The armour package of the 2nd protection class withstands 9 × 18 mm, (9 mm Makarov), 9 × 19 mm, (9 mm Luger, 9 mm Parabellum) shot from pistols and carbines in pistol cartridges and 7,62 × 25 mm, (7,62 × 25 Tokarev). (Class 2 refers to the equivalent composition tested on 400 × 400mm standard samples. Therefore, specimens of smaller size and shape may have different interfering traumas)
