Source 2.6L Water Bladder is a wide reservoir for the transportation of water supplies from the Israeli company Source.
Most of us are more accustomed to thinking of spacious reservoirs for maintaining water-salt balance solely as a narrow elongated water bag with hoses. But after filling, they become quite large and inconvenient to use: they constantly try to spin, and instead of keeping the shape of a cylinder with an equal diameter along the entire height, after several sips of water they quickly acquire a shape more like a drop.
But the elongated longish shape is not the only option, because there are more comfortable options for long-term transportation, such as the Source 2.6L Water Bladder, which has the following features.

In front, the Source 2.6L Water Bladder is a wide tank measuring 28.5cm x 38cm x 2.5cm (Width / Height / Depth), with rounded edges and a well-defined neckline at the top. also in front are all the main fixtures and access points: a hose fixation point in the lower third, and a plastic filling cap in the upper third.
At the back, the reservoir draws little attention, apart from the longitudinal seam and Widepac collars, which we'll come back to a little later.
There is a seam along the center line of the tank, which was visible in the previous photo. It is formed by an additional 10 cm long film insert. This insert has a fixed width and does not allow the tank to grow in depth when filling. Therefore, if you fill the Source 2.6L Water Bladder with the maximum amount of water, it will not turn into a ball, but will retain its wide flat shape. Also, this insert evenly distributes the volume of water vertically so that all of it does not flow down, leaving the top empty and flat. This leads to better distribution of weight and volume when packing the tank in the end, backpack, etc.
In the lower third of the front wall of the tank, there is a plastic outlet with the Source logo, to which a 94 cm hose is fixed. As you can see, the outlet is located just above the bottom seam, so you will not be able to completely empty the tank through the hose.
It is also worth paying attention to the absence of any detachable connectors. The hose is completely fixed in the tank, so you won't be able to store the water supply in it separately from the hose. Likewise, leave the attached hose on the equipment when removing the tank too.
The entire length of the hose is protected by a braided sleeve in Olive to protect it from UV radiation. It reduces the likelihood of mechanical damage to the hose, and you also do not have to run through the hose warm water that was in it before getting cool from the depths of the tank.
On the opposite side of the hose is the Angled Storm-Valve mouthpiece. It is a compact valve positioned at a 90 degree angle to the hose. To protect the mouthpiece from dirt and dust, it is equipped with a Dirt Shield that completely covers its entire surface.
The fact that the cap is included in the kit is also good news, so you don't have to buy it separately as an additional accessory. So that the cap does not get lost while you are drinking water from the mouthpiece, it does not accidentally fall off during transportation, it is fixed with a small leash from the microcord. This makes it easy to find and replace after using the mouthpiece.
The kit also includes a plastic holder, which allows you to fix the hose to the equipment. You should use it when you pass the hose over the strap of the backpack, or the unloading system.
The mouthpiece valve is activated by pulling out the rounded plastic piece at its end. Pull on it with your teeth to open the water supply, insert it back to stop. To prevent the valve from opening on its own, you can rotate this part 90 degrees. This will be needed during transport so that the pressure on the reservoir does not over time push the valve outward and you do not lose your water supply, and also if you do not plan to drink from your Source 2.6L Water Bladder on the go for a while.
In the upper third of the front wall there is a plastic cap for filling the tank. The neck of the lid is 5 centimeters in diameter and allows you to fill the Source 2.6L Water Bladder with tap water, narrow and wide mouth bottles, or even directly from a well bucket. The cap is fixed to the neck with a short microcord leash, which will prevent you from releasing or losing the cap during filling.
In the photo above, through the hole in the front wall of the tank, the inner surface of the Source 2.6L Water Bladder is also clearly visible, which in its structure and shine will resemble glass. It features Glass-Like Technology and Grunge-Guard Antibacterial Coating that inhibit the growth of microorganisms inside Source tanks. The surface of a three-layer film made of extruded polyethylene is so smooth that it is difficult for microorganisms to hold onto it, which prevents their accumulation, growth and reproduction.
Best of all, microbial growth is prevented by normal tank maintenance, which is why the Source 2.6L Water Bladder has a Widepac neck. This is a 14.5 cm wide neckline, which is located at the top seam. With its help, at any time you can drain all the liquid from the reservoir almost to the last drop, move your hand inside and wipe or dry the inner walls. Due to its wide shape and relatively shallow depth, it can be installed at the back of a backpack, even if it is not equipped with a special pocket for transporting tanks, or inside the space under the plates of body armor.
