They are well ventilated in places overlapping with elements of armor protection and unloading equipment: abdomen, chest, back. They are reinforced where the protection of body armor and plate carriers is lacking: arms, shoulders and neck. And in general, they are ideal for hot climates and high levels of physical activity, which we demonstrated not so long ago with the example of the UF Pro Striker XT Gen. 2 Combat Shirt.
But what to do if the weather is changeable: it rains in the morning, the sun burns in the afternoon, and it's cold after it sets? What to do when you are comfortable indoors in a damp combat shirt, but it is already cool in the wind outside? Unlike combat shirts, the lining is not a thin layer that absorbs moisture well, but 45% COCONA 37.5 polyester microfleece. Therefore, the UF Pro Hunter FZ Gen. 2 Tactical Softshell Jacket will be significantly more comfortable than combat shirts in windy weather, at night and during temperature changes during the day.

As for the fit, it somewhat mimics the fit of combat shirts and to me it looked very similar to the UF Pro Striker XT Gen. 2 Combat Shirt, especially on the sleeves. However, it also has its own features: a tight fit to avoid wrinkles and discomfort under body armor, additional pockets on the chest, etc. That's why I suggest getting to know the design features in more detail.
Stand Collar UF Pro Hunter FZ Gen. 2 Tactical Softshell Jacket has a drop in height from 7 centimeters in the front to 10 centimeters in the back, which protects your neck from wind, precipitation and insects. In the center of the collar there is a zipper 64 centimeters high, which goes down to the lower edge of the jacket. The zipper is equipped with one runner and a wind protection strip from the inside along the entire length. At the top, the bar has a parking bend in the reverse direction, which prevents the cold metal of the runner from contacting the skin of your neck and chin.
Under the armpits, the side section of the jacket is not made of the main polyamide material, but of a lower density perforated mesh. This mesh allows excess moisture and heat, which will be generated in this area when wearing body armor and plate carriers, to leave the inner space of the jacket and evaporate more quickly. So you can expect to sweat less in mild weather and not freeze in high winds or sudden drops in temperature or activity levels.
On the shoulders of the jacket there are symmetrical arm pockets with useful dimensions of 15 x 20 centimeters (width / height). Access to them is carried out through a vertical zipper with a height of 13.5 centimeters. The outer surfaces of the pockets are equipped with a velcro area of 9 x 13.5 centimeters (width \ height), where various means of distinction can be attached: unit chevrons, epaulettes, morale patches, reflective indicators, infrared and visible flashing beacons, etc. The upper edge of the velcro platform has a channel 2.5 centimeters wide, which allows pens, markers and other writing accessories to pass inside the pockets.
On the forearms of both hands there is one more pocket measuring 13 x 12 centimeters (width/height), the access to the inner space of which is through a zipper 10.5 centimeters high. Although these pockets are slightly smaller than the ones on the shoulders, they can still be used to transport notebooks, maps, compasses, batteries and other useful trinkets that you want to have quick and constant access to.
Cuffs in UF Pro Hunter FZ Gen. 2 Tactical Softshell Jacket is elastic and made of material that stretches freely in four directions. A similar one is used on the panels of the UF Pro Striker HT Combat Pants, which are placed around the back pockets, above and below the knees. Thanks to its elasticity, the jacket is comfortable to wear when wearing a watch or other accessories, and it also easily adjusts to the gloves you use depending on the weather.
The breast pockets of the jacket are flat, so as not to cause discomfort under body armor and allow you to place items with dimensions of 12 x 24 centimeters (width \ height). They can be accessed through vertical zippers 16 centimeters high.
Due to the placement and presence of a fleece lining under the outer surface, these pockets can also be used for hand warmers when you are not wearing a body armor or plate carrier. But the lining on the inner surface of the pockets is made of mesh, which allows you to use the open mouths of the pockets as a means of thermoregulation to improve vapor permeability and remove excess moisture.
Speaking of the lining, I must mention that the 45% COCONA 37.5 polyester microfleece covers the entire inner surface of the jacket, including the inserts on the sides, and allows you to retain a sufficient amount of warmth. As you can see in the photo above, this is due to the “waffle” structure of the material, which forms many small air chambers that are filled with air that is warmed by your body. Therefore, with a relatively low density of the jacket, you will not lack warmth.
Overall, the UF Pro Hunter FZ Gen Jacket. 2 Tactical Softshell Jacket is worth attention primarily as an alternative to combat shirts for the period of changeable spring and autumn weather. It is no worse combined with bulletproof vests, plate carriers and unloading equipment, and at the same time provides better thermoregulation and protection against bad weather: winds and precipitation. In case you feel too warm in it, its light weight and compact dimensions allow you to easily transport it on your belt or on the back cover of body armor, so its presence will also cause minimal discomfort.
