The CED 7000 Shot Timer series, which was developed by the American companies Competitive Edge Dynamics and Double-Alpha Academy, and has been produced for more than 15 years, without exaggeration, is one of the most popular devices in the segment of relatively small and portable shooting timers. The CED 7000 gained its popularity due to its extremely wide functionality, relatively small size and weight, a large selection of various additional accessories, as well as a rather competitive cost.
Today, the CED 7000 Shot Timer is offered in two versions, the CED 7000 Shot Timer and the CED 7000 Shot Timer RF. The latter is distinguished by the presence of a special radio module for wireless transmission of data in real time, up to 45 meters, to a special display such as CED BigBoard Display, which, of course, is sold separately. This version is largely designed directly for instructors and judges. If necessary, the RF-chip can be installed independently and in the basic version, it is also sold separately.
In addition to modifications, the user is offered a choice between two color options for the control buttons, classic Silver, or completely black "tactical" Black / Tactical, as in the review. Regardless of the choice of design option, the basic set of the shooting timer includes a neck suspension, a lanyard, a charging cord, a power supply unit (5V, 800MA) for an American or European outlet, as well as an instruction in English. It will be difficult to understand all the capabilities of the device without instructions, if knowledge of English is not enough, you can easily find a translation on the network.
As additional accessories, the device can be equipped with shockproof silicone cases of different colors, a swivel clip, screen protectors, a cable for charging from USB sources, and even a spare battery, which, unfortunately, requires complete disassembly of the device. The CED 7000 Shot Timer has a lithium-ion battery with a declared capacity of up to 2400 mAh. A full charge is approximately enough for a day, provided the air temperature is not lower than 5C, in winter, of course, the results will be worse. In standby mode, the charge should last for a month.

The general dimensions of the CED 7000 Shot Timer are about 100 mm long, 48 cm wide and up to 18 mm thick. As an example, I placed next to the previously discussed Shooters Global Timer. The weight of the device, without accessories, does not exceed 78 grams. The timer functions are controlled by the front "joystick" and four physical buttons, the Start and Review buttons are duplicated at the end. The first button serves directly to quickly start the timer, the second, to view the last recorded results. The timer memory can store up to 10 series of 39 shots each. If there are more shots, the first 38 are recorded, and the 39th "cell" will contain the time of the last n-shot.

In addition to buttons and a fairly clear and informative monochrome LCD display with electroluminescent backlighting, on the outside of the device there is a highly sensitive microphone located under the display, a loud speaker with a maximum audio signal level of up to 110db (2500Hz), a charging jack, AUX connector, external mount battery and lanyard eyelet.
On the main display, information that is displayed simultaneously is visually divided into four lines. The series number and the delay time between shots are displayed at the top. The time of the first shot and the shot number are displayed below. Further, the indicator of the delay before the sound signal (Fixed 3s, Random 2-5s, Instant 0s, Custom), as well as the total session time and battery level. The name of the selected operating mode (Comstock, Repetitive, Stop Watch, Spy Mode, Countdown) is displayed along the bottom edge, as well as the current date or time, which can be displayed in 12/24-hour format.
I'll start with the shortcomings that were identified during operation. Firstly, I did not like the quality of workmanship, or rather the execution of the product body itself. The case looks fragile and unreliable, the fit of the elements is far from perfect. In addition, the base lacks shockproof protection, as well as protection against moisture and dust. Perhaps a silicone case partly solves this shortcoming, but it still needs to be checked. Secondly, I didn’t like the basic package, subjectively, a clip and a protective silicone case should be in the base. Thirdly, the microphone is too sensitive, the sensitivity settings and interference filtering, sometimes turned out to be insufficient, mainly in the room, to exclude the erroneous registration of shots due to echo.
The strengths of the timer include wide functionality, including many different modes of operation, as well as flexibility and a wide range of settings for various parameters. There is the possibility of individual adjustment of the delay of the audio signal, which really turned out to be very loud. It is possible to program a fixed interval of time for the exercise in the range from 0.6 to 999.99 seconds, it is possible to program up to 11 intervals with a sound signal, which start automatically one by one. I also liked the presence of a built-in stopwatch and backlight.
The CED 7000 Shot Timer was ordered from a specialized online store Punisher, where it is currently valued at almost $ 177. For a protective silicone case and a clip, you will have to pay an additional $ 20 and $ 26, respectively.
