From practice: For most night shooting tasks up to 100–150 m, the civilian DBAL-A3's capabilities are more than enough – especially in urban or wooded environments where excessive power causes "blooming" or overexposure in the image.

PEQ-15 (ATPIAL) is the classic military standard that has proven its effectiveness in combat units. Its key features:

• Widespread use in the military and standardized ergonomics;

• Stable performance at longer distances (especially in full-power versions);

• Intuitive mode management;

• Large number of compatible accessories and proven field reliability.

At the same time, the PEQ-15 housing is made of polymer, while the DBAL-A3 features a metal construction, which some users prefer for durability.

In real-world use, the difference between civilian versions is often smaller than expected.
