Hello! The Special Forces of the World are with you!

Just recently, I was revising the cult film The Fall of the Black Hawk, the plot of which is based on the events of 1993 in Somalia.

On October 3-4, during a UN peacekeeping mission, the US Special Forces, while trying to arrest several members of the National Alliance, get into a tough mix, where the strength of the enemy is much higher than the UN forces.

From the United States in the operation involved:

1) Special Forces Delta

2) 75th Rangers Regiment

3) 160 air regiment and other support units

Watching the film, I thought, why not make out the crew of fighters and throw them on the channel. And here is a couple of photos of real rangers who shot the movie!

It just so happened that the analysis of equipment on the channel turned into a kind of tradition, I like it! Therefore, today, in this article, we will disassemble the equipment of the rangers of the 75th regiment.

After reading the article, please write in the comments an analysis of the equipment of which unit you would like to see next! I must say that I presented all the equipment presented based on real photos, so the list may not be completely complete. If someone can correctly supplement some unspecified details, I will be glad! In this analysis, I did not take into account underwear and some small things! There are only options for the main equipment of the fighter of the 75th regiment. So they drove!

A uniform

US Army Rangers wore a field uniform in 1993 (DCU 3 - color desert and DBDU 6 - color desert)

3 color desert (left) and 6 color desert (right)
The sand form 6 color desert was created specifically for the US Army in the late 70s of the 20th century, however, it gained the most popularity during the Gulf War. Camouflage 3 color desert, was released in 1991 and its goal was to replace the obsolete 6 color. Form 3 color proved to be very good and served the U.S. Army until 2011.

Footwear

Boots Altama Combat Boots

Boots are made of suede and cordura.
Sole Mil Spec Vibram with a shock-absorbing inner polyurethane middle layer and Vibram® Sierra tread, which provides excellent traction on various surfaces.

Hats

Field Panama (6-color desert camouflage Boonie hat)

Shoulder system

"ALICE"

The image is illustrative, because the soldier could put any pouches at his discretion, somewhere more than a BC or something else. But mostly small things are shown here well!)

Typically, the system included:

  • 2 two pouches for 5.56 STANAG stores (each contained 3 stores and 2 grenades)
  • Bandage pouch
  • Pistol belt LC2 + Shoulder straps
  • Case with a knife M9
  • 2 Plastic Jars
  • Cracker
  • Compass pouch
  • First aid kit
  • Gun holster
  • Carbine

Means of protection

1) Special glasses against dust and sand SWDG

The set of glasses included 3 lenses (anti-wind, sun-protection and anti-dust)
2) Helmet PASGT + Cover 6-color desert

PASGT was a Kevlar helmet, which was adopted by the US Army in conjunction with body armor.
3) RBA body armor (RANGER BODY ARMOR)

The RBA was a special ballistic vest designed and used mainly by soldiers of the 75th Ranger Regiment of the US Army. RBA consists of two main components: soft flexible panels and two rigid ceramic plates, both of which provide little ballistic protection to the upper body. Body armor received baptism of fire just in 1993 in Somalia!

4) Gas mask M17

This gas mask was developed during the Vietnam War. It is a regular gas mask that protects the carrier from hazardous chemical and biological substances. The US Army replaced it with a new mask in the mid-90s.
